Music Festivals in Korea!

This week will be a very fun and exciting topic to talk about! During my one-year adventure in Korea, I went to many music festivals and made amazing friends! I wanted to show everyone the entertainment and fun side of living in a different country. I thought the environment and atmosphere at these events were very lively and exciting. Koreans also have wonderful manners too, I didn’t experience pushing or shoving unlike the events held here in Vancouver. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to me, I made new friends at the festivals in an instant! Most of the events I went to were my favourite EDM based music. I wished I also went to see a different genre of shows to show a more diverse music scene. I hope that this post will still be an interesting quick read! I will be giving a short description and location of the music festivals I went to in 2017, and also include some tips on staying safe and having fun with friends in a foreign country!

Ultra Music Festival Korea

Location: Jamsil Olympic Stadium – Seoul, Korea

UMF Korea started out in 2012, and became one of the biggest music festivals held in the summer. It features some of the best DJs in the world and great electronic music scene. I had an amazing first time at my first Ultra Korea event! It was a 2-day event and included 4 stages – ULTRA Main Stage, RESISTANCE stage, Live Stage, and Magic Beach Stage. I went with my Vancouver and TaLK friends, and I made new friends during my line up there too! My favourite Ultra Korea 2017 headliners were Alesso, Dash Berlin, Hardwell, KSHMR, Nicky Romero, Steve Angello, and of course my fave, Tiesto!

Tomorrowland Unite

Location: Incheon Munhak Stadium – Incheon, Korea

UNITE With Tomorrowland was a live stream festival that connected Korea and other countries with a live video connection with Tomorrowland Belgium. It was an unique and incredible experience building the bridge between the main Tomorrowland event in Belgium to the rest of the world! There were live local and international DJs on the magical UNITE stage and synchronized special effects with the show in Belgium.

World Club Dome Festival

Location: Incheon Munhak Stadium – Incheon Korea

Electric Sky Festival

Location: Seoul Olympic Auxiliary Stadium

Tips πŸ™‚

Stay together with friends!

Music festivals are heavily populated with people, so make sure to stick together and don’t get lost.

Stay hydrated!

It can get extremely hot during the summer, hitting around the mid 30s degrees so make sure to drink lots of water during the festival. All these festivals are held outside in an open stadium.

Bring a portable fan!

This was my lifesaver during a hot summer music festival. In Korea, these mini portable fans are sold everywhere for only 10,000 won ($11 cad). It is a must need for the sweltering heat!

Don’t forget a portable charger!

Usually, these events are a couple of hours long, so bring a portable charger just in case you lose battery to stay in contact with friends.
